On his way to the Abuja Airport on Thursday afternoon to fly to Lagos, where he boarded a British Airways aircraft to London, Siasia said: “I intend to discuss with Nedum (Onuoha) and see what is possible. I believe he will commit to Nigeria”.
The Manchester City’s former ace was in the hat for the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals but turned down Coach Lars Lagerback's approach as he preferred to sort out his club’s future.
On a couple of other occasions, Onuoha has refused to honour invitation to the Nigeria camp, fuelling feelings that he does not want to play for his country of birth. But Siasia says he is getting positive signals and will convince the versatile defender to put on the green-white-green.
“We'll see what happens, but I am positive. I will watch him when Sunderland plays Bolton in the English Premiership on Saturday, and we will hold talks after the match”.
